Teaching is a tough job.
Managing a class of imps is tougher than it seems. I have seen parents unable to manage 1/2 kids. Well, I have 25. They annoy me to no end but there are also moments they have taught me a lot. Our education system is really focused on academics. I'm not saying that it is a bad thing. But I believe that it is more than just academics.
I taught my class to be ninjas and on days I need some peace or feel that they need to wind down, we go on "ninja mode" when we move. Trust me, 25 kids walking from place to place can mean A LOT of noise!
Yesterday, I knew they were gonna be noisy returning to class with their bags and all that I challenged them.. my best 5 ninjas would get a sticker each on their reward chart.
"Mrs chu, how about two stickers?"
They walked in such perfect lines in an orderly manner like I have never seen before. I was so blown away that I rewarded them each with 2 stickers!
Somedays, it's not all about the academic results. It's about little moments like this (:
