My dream kitchen

It's been a couple of weeks since we've moved in and we're gradually, slowly but steadily settling down. Here's sharing a shot of our kitchen taken the night everything went up well! (:

We're still in the midst of unpacking though most are unpacked.. We're still waiting for more of our taobao and amazon items to arrive.. And soon, we'll be able to have our house-warming! (:

Btw, here's the first photo series taken for the Fluffy Pandan Chiffon Cake recipe in our new kitchen! (:

Day 26: My dream kitchen [our kitchen is finally up!]

It's awesome. It's merrily awesome. 95% of our carpentry is up and I'm thrilled. It's like a dream come true..

I was half dreading the installation as I really didn't want any possibly wet wood damaged from last Friday to be placed onto our cupboards. Thankfully, Absolook kept to their word and changed the cabinets. I rushed down after school for them to start work at about 1.40pm..

The cabinets being put into place after being screened by me..

Our water pipes in the kitchen.. If you can't conceal it, make it pop! (:

The other side of the kitchen was actually completed earlier this week.

We had the skirting in our unit painted black! (:

The shelving for the bookshelves were up too... and so were the glass doors!

The feature wall was completed together with the console..

And the moment arrived... kept my fingers crossed!

Thankfully, it was good!

I ended up playing with the cupboards in the study.. I love our Blum system! (: Only part of the house that's lacking the blum is the wardrobe which I forgot to request for!

Love it so much!

The uncles were really busy at work.. they had 3 hours to complete the job!

The vanity counter for our MBR toilet is up with the sink too.. waiting for the quartz top now...

Grey and black living hall walls! (:

Our feature wall has shelving (:

I was thrilled the moment the doors went up!

The view from our service yard...

AWESOMENESS.

The awesome pull out table.. it even has the 45 degree finger slot for me to have a better grip of the table! LIONEL AND RICHIE YOU ROCK! (:

The stove and basin were up too.. The L shaped kitchen gives me a little more counter space!

Same for the dish drainer and cooker hob.

My 2nd pull out table! (: Perfectly concealed as a drawer!

Love the sink!

Super slim hood!

The oven went in too! (: The space above the oven is for the microwave oven..

Love how the white brightens up the whole kitchen.. and the orange frame is just perfect for it!

According to Lionel, this is the first ever bright kitchen he has ever done.. guess we kinda broke his record! I truly truly love my kitchen.. Thank you Absolook, Lionel and Richie for making my dream come true! Can't wait for the rest of the unit to be completed for our move next Saturday! (:

Day 24: of loads of anger

Day 24 was supposed to be the day of our kitchen cabinet fitting (long side of the wall). It is especially crucial that I oversee this step especially since the 'flood' last Friday. It was agreed and arranged that the installation would take place in my presence at 4pm. I was dead tired from a long day and supplementary but I still rushed down after work to be there at 4pm, even forsaking my lunch in the process.

Lo and behold, the unit was empty.

Apparently, the carpentry wasn't completed in time and well, Richie, our ID FORGOT to inform us of the change. Rushing to an empty unit is no fun at all.

Moreover, the damaged cabinets were all brought back to their workshop. I didn't really understand why that'd have to do that when there are indeed pieces that are damaged beyond redemption (in my opinion).

I called him and gave him a piece of my mind. I also demanded that they send the damaged pieces back to the unit and only remove it when the new ones go up.. He merely gave me the "I want to follow your doors' measurements" story which I seriously didn't give a damn about.

I guess I was just cheesed off.
Really cheesed off.

I then called the boss, Glen, and demanded the same. He gave me his story too.. and defended his workers' when he insisted that wet carpentry should not be given to clients.. while I'm pretty sure the carpenter and Richie said otherwise. Trying to persuade me into taking and accepting the wet cabinets.. HMMMM... and I've yet to even pursue the matter of them damaging my water pipes.

He then said he would change all the carpentry which water had come in contact with, insisting that it does him no good giving me refurbished wood.. and that it's cheaper that it is made from scratch again.

The installation is due on Friday at 2pm.. Let's just see what they'll make of it...

On a lighter note,  the doors for our study's shelves is up!

I like our study. Seriously, I like what Absolook has done so far.. they've been awesome.. but it's a pity how the water flooding incident made everything so nasty now...

Our TV feature wall was up too.. Same goes for the suspended console. Works' still in progress though!

Our storage heater, mirrors, accessories set etc are also here.. Can't wait for things to turn for the better from here forth..

Day 22: kitchen pull out table, TV console and feature wall

Today, I headed over to our unit after a long day in school. I was hoping that I could let the contractors fix the new cabinets in the kitchen. However, the kitchen guy wasn't around. Nevertheless, I managed to get a better glimpse of our pull out table! (: It's just short of the laminate (:

The cabinets on the shorter side of our kitchen.. Love the tall unit. It'll house drawers, our built in oven and a space for the microwave oven. This delightful unit also houses our pull out table! As many of you may already know, we have a small 3 room unit. It's great for the 2 of us but the size of the place is really small at 65sqm. So I'm truly thankful that our IDs Lionel and Richie managed to incorporate a pull out table in our tall unit that I can use when our glass door is closed (:

The best part would probably be that it's all hidden nicely in the tall unit, merging as one with the tall unit (: So it's like a little MAGIC (:

Our TV console and feature wall is up too.. It's just short of the smaller details...

The hole in the wall from the damaged water pipe has also been mended.

The toilet bowl is in a really bad state though. I'm just hoping it's not some stuck cement or something like the way it happened in the other units.

Tomorrow, the new kitchen cabinets will be going up.. there after the smaller details can be completed. At the speed we're going, we may be able to shift in earlier than expected with the exception of our kitchen backsplash... but it's good.. still good... (:
