I bought this Tayaki maker after being inspired by many of the MM members! (:
This pan is merely 20 bucks and the product is really tasty with the Morinaga pancake mix, both from Isetan Scotts. This recipe took less than 30 minutes to prepare 4 tayakis (:
The pancake mix was from Isetan's supermarket at Scotts, 4 packets, 150g each for $6.30.
Nemo Tayaki Recipe
1 packet Morinaga Pancake Mix (150g)
100ml lukewarm water
Some oil for greasing pan
Wilton gel orange colouring
The ingredients! (:
I prepped the pan by washing it with soap and water before oiling it and rinsing it with water again. Then, prep the pan for cooking with a thin layer of oil to prevent sticking of batter.
The pancake mix.
Add an egg.
Add the water.
Mix well! (:
Add the batter, about 5 tsp of it and add a dollop of filling.
Add about 1 - 2 tsp of batter on top of the filling.
Snap the pan close and secure with the lock.
Cook for 3 minutes on the side you placed the batter on and then flip over to cook for another 2 minutes or till entire tayaki is brown.
This is the 'plain' tayaki without food colouring!
I wanted to make Nemos so I added a lil' Wilton Orange gel colouring (:
This is how it looks like after it's cooked!
It's okay if there's excess at the side.. it can be trimmed off easily!
Place nutella in piping bag and warm up with palms of hands (:
Then, pipe desired design!
I loveeeeeee my tayaki very much and I despite having eaten 2 of them, I still wanted more!
Am gonna try more savoury flavours like Luncheon meat tonight!

Annie! Idk if Isetan still carries it.. I bought mine some time ago from Isetan.. XD but now I havent used it in a bit! Maybe this can be sat's brekkie this week!Delete
