Baby Friendly Creamy Pasta
This recipe was highly raved by mama Angie in the BLW group that I'm in. Original recipe is from Mother Queen Z. The sauce is really creamy but it was well liked by hubby. It was okay for Adriel but way too creamy for my liking. Then again, you may like it so here I am to share it (:
This recipe takes 30 minutes to prepare and I'd rate it a difficulty level 3 out of 5.
Baby Friendly Creamy Pasta
This recipe feeds 2 - 3 pax
6oz fresh milk
10g plain flour
20g grated cheese
10g cream cheese
50g broccoli, cut into bite sized portions
1 carrot, sliced
1 stalk of celery, sliced
Olive oil
cooked pasta, enough for 2-3 pax
garlic powder
dried herb of choice (oregano, rosemary all work)
Method
1. Cook olive oil, milk and flour on low heat till it thickens.
2. Add in cheeses and mix well.
3. Add in garlic powder and dried herb.
4. Add in veggie and reduce heat. Enable vegetables to cook through. You may choose to boil/steam it beforehand too.
5. Add in pasta and serve.
6. Enjoy!
Baby Friendly Salmon Fried Rice
Adriel loves rice. His first try of this salmon fried rice had him having 3 servings non stop cos he just loved it so much! (: I love adding lots of ingredients to it so here's my rendition.
I'd rate it a difficulty level 2 out of 5 and it takes about 30 mins to prepare, given that rice has already been cooked.
Baby Friendly Salmon Fried Rice Recipe
Serves 3 - 4
1 cup rice, cooked and cooled (I prefer overnight rice but if that is a concern for you, cook it, cool it, refrigerate it for a few hours and use it. Overnight rice seems to be tastier for fried rice!)
200g salmon, diced
1/2 corn, diced
4 - 5 pieces of long bean, diced
1/2 box white button mushroom, diced
1 carrot, diced
6 prawns, diced (optional)
4 eggs
Olive oil
black pepper
garlic powder (optional)
1. Heat up olive oil in pan.
2. Stir fry mushroom till softened.
3. Add in all corn, long bean, carrot and prawns and stir fry.
4. Add rice and stir fry, breaking rice up.
5. Mix eggs and pour evenly into rice.
6. Stir fry, ensuring that rice is coated as evenly as possible.
7. Add salmon. Fry. Season with black pepper. Add garlic powder if you fancy. I LOVE GARLIC POWDER (:
8. Enjoy!
Adriel sure loves his fried rice! (:
Baby Friendly Waffles
These waffles are easy to whip up and freeze really well. I do not use sugar but use banana to sweeten it instead. You can even add blueberries to make blueberry waffles! Yum! They're crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside.
This recipe takes about 30 minutes to whip up 1 batch of them.. I'd rate them a difficulty level 3 out of 5.
Baby Friendly Waffles
1 ripe banana
160g cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg separated + 1 egg white
250ml fresh milk
3 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cinammon
1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
1. Mix dry ingredients together.
2. Add banana, egg yolk, milk, oil & vanilla bean paste in.
3. Whisk up egg whites till stiff peaks are formed.
4. Fold in egg whites into yolk batter in 3 additions.
5. Cook as per waffle machine's instructions. I did about 4 mins each.
NOTE: This has a very faint sweetness to it so feel free to add 1 more banana, replacing 20 to 30ml milk or add a few tbsp of castor sugar if you'd like to sweeten it..

Sweet Potato Parmesan Stacks (baby friendly)
A simple dish that Adriel likes. Works well in the oven.. can probably work in the air fryer too. Parmesan is usually salty so I omit the top layer when serving to Adriel. I'd give him the insides that has a little cheese. If you are not comfortable offering cheese, you can omit cheese from the recipe.
I'd rate it a difficulty level 2 out of 5 and it takes about 30 minutes to prepare this.
Sweet Potato Parmesan Stacks (baby friendly) Recipe
2 sweet potatoes
Olive oil
Dried herbs like basil, oregano etc
Parmesan
Peel and slice sweet potato thinly. This gadget from Daiso works well!
Add olive oil (1 tbsp or so), dried herbs of your choice and a couple tbsp of freshly shaved parmesan. Mix well.
Add more parmesan on top if you fancy. Bake in a preheated oven of 200 degrees Celsius for 15 to 20 mins or till tender.
Enjoy!

Creamed Mushroom Pasta with Pan Seared Chicken
Today was a busy day. Hubby and I woke up early to clean the house before ma and our aunties came over to make mooncakes. I decided to whip up a simple lunch after our cleaning session and before they came over. This recipe is simple yet delicious. It requires few ingredients and is good on its own, even without the chicken I cooked today.
I did a simple LIVE video of it earlier in June and it was well received! Here's the link to the video tutorial where the quantity is explicitly mentioned.
I added some back bacon in today's version. I pan searched the sliced back bacon of about 100g till it was ALMOST cooked. I removed it before adding the butter.. (I didn't clean the pan so as to retain the good flavour of the bacon).. I added it just before adding the cream to the pan.
As for the pan searched chicken, I used 2 chicken legs (fresh ones preferred). I seasoned it with salt, freshly grounded black pepper, garlic powder, dried parsley and dried oregano before pan searing it with about 2 - 3 tbsp of oil. I cooked it for a total of about 12 minutes on medium-low heat, flipping it every 3 minutes or so.
This is delicious, trust me. Enjoy it! (:

Salted Egg Calamari Rings
YUMS! Last week, I cooked some Salted Egg Pork Ribs.. today, I had the idea of cooking them in calamari style since I found some fresh ones in the supermarket. I also made improvements to the batter and boy is it delicious!
The recipe takes about 30 mins to prepare and cook and I'd rate it a difficulty level 3 out of 5.

Thermal Cooker Pulled Pork (Overnight recipe)
I was looking around for more overnight thermal cooker recipes and I decided to try out a pulled pork recipe so that I could make sandwiches with it.. I adopted the recipe from JamieOliver.com but made adjustments to fit my 3 litre thermal cooker.
The pulled pork is called as such as the pork shoulder is pulled apart and shredded before serving. The recipe yields a sweet but yet savoury meat that's tender and juicy! It went really well with buns/bread and the coleslaw I did.
I took 30 minutes to cook the dish and threw it into the thermal cooker to continue cooking overnight. I'd rate it a difficulty level 2 out of 5.
Simple Creamy Southern Mayonnaise Coleslaw
I did up this simple coleslaw to go with the pulled pork sandwiches I had.. This is easy to whip up and tasty to boot! I adapted the recipe from Amazingribs.com.
It'll take about 15 - 30 minutes to prepare this dish, depending on how you slice the veggies.
I'd rate it a difficulty level 1 out of 5.

Millefeuille Nabe (Pork Belly Cabbage Pot)
Ever since seeing this recipe on Just One Cookbook, I've been itching to try this recipe! I've wanted to cook it with fresh pork slices but it's really tough getting them in Singapore. I was told that Meidi-ya sells it.. but I don't visit that supermarket that often..
Since I had Sunday free, I decided to cook this for the hubby and I. After all, it's something simple and quick after I spend several hours cleaning the kitchen and baking this Tri-coloured Kueh Lapis Legit. I made several modifications to this recipe.. but it still tastes really good. I've even done up a video on the layering!
Layering the pork belly for the Mieu-feuille Nabe last night! (:Posted by Cynthia Lim on Monday, 22 February 2016
The recipe takes only 30 minutes to put together and cook.. and it goes really well with rice. I'd rate it a difficulty level 3 out of 5.

One-pot Creamy Chicken
This dish was taught by my MIL who often cooks this for the hubby. He loves it so much he could finish one entire pot of it.. and probably, he would eat it every day for every meal if he's allowed to do so. Her version was wetter and extremely delicious. However, when I cooked it, I added some touches of mine. Thankfully, the hubby loves it too! It's easy comfort food for the 2 of us.. (: We usually have it over a fluffy bed of rice. The Creamy Chicken consists of canned soup and lots of vegetables and mushrooms.
It'd take about 30 minutes to prepare and cook (excluding cooking of rice).. I'd rate it a difficulty level 2 out of 5.

Belgian Waffles
I've been itching to buy a waffle/sandwich/grill/donut machine for a while now and I finally settled for a grill and waffle one today. The hubby "complained" that he'll have A LOT of waffles to eat from now on.. especially since I have the machine now.. just like how I was crazy over macarons for a period of time (I still am okay!)...
So I seasoned my pan and made waffles for the hubby and I for dessert after dinner! I used the recipe from Taste Of Home and halved it.. It yielded about 6 waffles with half the recipe. It took about 30 minutes to whip up 6 waffles and I'd rate it a difficulty level 3 out of 5.

Steamed Milk Custard
I recently ordered these overly adorable glass jars from Taobao and I couldn't wait to use them over the weekend. I decided to make some Steamed Egg Custard with them.. I adopted the recipe from Christine's but I omitted the ginger. Btw, my holidays are here!!!!!!! I'm super excited about the time that I'll gain baking and likely conducting small group classes..
Anyway, this was really simple to cook and it takes only merely 30 minutes to make.. I'd rate it a difficulty level 2 out of 5.

Crab Bee Hoon (Soup)
For our New Year's Eve party, I cooked this Crab Bee Hoon cos' I found lovely fresh crabs in the supermarket while doing my last minute shopping. I simply LOVE crabs with roe (: The broth was lovely and rich... and of course, the crabs were awesome. This dish is almost too cheap to prepare as compared to paying lots of $$ in restaurants for it!
This recipe was cooked in a hurry so I failed to document the image steps. But fret not, I'll do so when I cook this soon! (: I took the inspiration from Rasa Malaysia.
This dish is pretty manageable so I'd rate it a difficulty level 3 out of 5. It takes about 30 minutes - 45 minutes to prepare this dish. The speed greatly depends on how fast you can clean the crabs (:
