Purchasing our red sofa and blinds!

Today has been a really long day. We were out the entire day... We managed to settle the biggest woe... our sofa!

I was loitering around Suntec and saw this nifty gadget.. it seemed cool but several friends suggested better options (: Still keeping our options open! We're almost lazy enough to wanna get a robot to do the work for us... but truth is, we don't have much floor area for the robot to run around either! Might as well do it ourself isn't it?

I then spotted these lovely apples on display in a small shop in Suntec. They're really adorable and they're actually plates! (: I love the newly furbished Suntec City! (: Can't wait for all the upgrading to be completed.

I then met the hubby to play games at Prize Stage at Marina Square. We're pretty hooked to this game.

With 30 bucks and some luck, we won these 3 dolls! We also won a few other tiny prizes (:

After which, we headed to the Food and Kitchen Fair at Suntec's Convention Centre. Our hunt for a red L-shaped sofa that's 2m and under has been tough. We're been on the hunt for months but truth be told, L-shaped sofas under 2m are tough to find.. worse still, we want it in red. Novena was one of the first few shops we visited and I didn't think much of their sofas then. Places like Defu and Nova furniture was so badly reviewed we'd kinda be fools if we were to choose them.

When we were down to our desperate last attempts for source for a sofa online last night, we decided to visit Novena at their new Suntec outlet today. Since I was at the food and kitchen fair earlier in the day, I checkout out their prices before I headed to the store. True enough, it's about 100bucks cheaper at the fair than at the store.

After some discussion, we finally decided on this red 3 seater recliner sofa in PU. This beauty was going at 799. (: Pretty awesome now that our sofa has been purchased!

After purchasing our sofa, we headed to Plaza Singapura and after much deliberation AGAIN, we decided on black aluminium blinds for the entire home. The 2 rooms would get a 2.1m long blind while the living hall would have 2 shorter blinds. We spent merely 214 on our blinds as there was a 50% discount! And the better part would be that Pa has agreed to help us and teach us how to put these up... So hello to pretty black blinds for our new home! (:

We then headed to Jalan Besar to collect our corridor lights and our kitchen lights. After which, we headed to Farrer Park's City Square Mall for dinner. I LOVE SAIZERIYA! (: They've got really great priced food that fill our bellies!

Seafood Gratin.

Escargots. SO GOOD.

Chicken.

Clam chower.

Spicy bacon pasta.

I also love their free flow drinks bar.. Paying 2.80 for free flow drinks really appeal to me! (:

Lastly, we headed home to get ready for the new semester. It's pretty amazing how I've been in the service for a year.. and has taught my current class for half a year.. I fear that I'd be so upset when my current class graduates from my arms at the end of the year...

Anyway, my bed is rather packed now... There are many darlings who are still in storage.. A few years back, I thought I had grown out of this soft toy stage. However, in the recent years, they just keep coming... >.< Hopefully our sofa bed in the 2nd bedroom can contain all of them! (:

Gotta go sleep... Semester 2 here we come! (:

Sourcing for curtains, blinds and stuff..

Yesterday, I headed to ikea after lunch and after visiting our unit. Since there was no work done yesterday, I decided to head to ikea to do some research. It is their sales period so it was packed!

I spotted this muffin tin and liners and it's so pretty! But the liners have to be purchased from ikea only.. making it possibly hard to replace should this product be discontinued someday. Still very pretty nonetheless!

I then eyed this chopping board but was advised by a friend to give it a miss as it "causes" a lot of splinters when in use.

I then headed to the blinds department to see if I could find something that fits our window dimensions. Ikea sure has a decent range of blinds! A pity the longest one is too short for our rooms... Unless we opt for 2 shorter blinds..

They've got white..

Black..

Brown..

Gray..

In between grey and black..

They also had a lovely range of curtains but they're meant for rather short windows of 250cm. So lovely colours I would say.

An array of blues!

Reds and prints..

Shades of purple..

I liked this almost black out black!

They also had a nice range of prints for blinds..

More prints..

Day curtains too.. But all too short!

I love this print soooo much! A pity it can't be made into blinds..

This is pretty too!

The cushion covers are really pretty too!

So many types!

I went to check out their shelving too..

And I exceptionally liked this! And it's only 69bucks or so! Now... Where can I place this?

They also have a wide range of support for the shelving.

This one is pretty modern!

The ring one is interesting.

A nice metal one.

I love the lights! A pity all our lights have been purchased. Most lights are so pretty I'm just so spoilt for choice! I wish I had more space for more lights!

I also found the sofa I've been looking for.. A lush green grass like sofa!

We'll also be getting this picture to go behind our sofa.

And I like this a lot cos it's beautifully red! The only issue and biggest issue is.. We probably don't have any space for it. >.<

I also visited the sewing centre to check out their curtains. I quite like this print for night sofa in the curtain but I'm still in a dilemma as on what to get.. Oh woe is me!

After all that 'me-time', I headed home to get ready for the wedding dinner I was attending with my mum on behalf of my dad! He was busy with work so we were like the representatives.

I love how falsies enhance my eyes!

The evening sunset was really beautiful yesterday as we drove to Swissotel for the dinner.

The groom is a friend of my dad and he found love at a later age. He shared his testimony on stage and it blew many away. He was a convict and fell in and out of prison many times before he found God and turned his life around. Even his pastor "squatted" in prison 9 times! Of the 55 tables the couple had for dinner, at least 8 tables of guests were cases like him. People who found love in God, and are shining bright for Him.

Pretty awesome testimony I would say. Amazing wedding too. Wedded bliss to the married couple! (:

Day 5 of reno: False ceiling up, service yard made good and curtain measurements taken

It's funny how time flies.. and it's already the 5th day of our renovation. Today, our false ceiling is up... our service yard that was broken was made good and I had the curtain guys come up to take measurements and offer us a quotation.

It's always thrilling looking at this part of the kitchen knowing that it adds to the visual length of the kitchen.

Today, the guy working on our kitchen and toilet base worked on this part of the kitchen. The spare tiles provided by HDB differed in colour (I'm so not surprised)...

He tried his best to make the sides better and replaced the tiles.. I guess with the naked eye, the colour difference isn't that large.

After all, what's a little colour difference when they've already TETRIS-ed my kitchen floor tiles?

Nevertheless, it's still good. Still good.

I can't wait for the cemented portions to be painted over..

This part will show a little after my kitchen cabinets go in...

Then, the false ceiling is up too!
This is the area above our dining hall.

Space for our air con unit..

Which does look a little weird for now...

Our L-box false ceiling to have the cove light and down lights...

False ceiling above our feature wall...

Above the sofa..

Above the window!

This is the pelmet made to conceal the trunking of the air con for the living hall.

Our corridor..

The ceiling in the MBR has been lowered..

False ceiling for cove lights in the MBR and downlights where my wardrobe walk-way is gonne be.

Where the false ceiling ends, my wardrobe would end too.. leaving a small walk-way at the back, near the toilet door for my wardrobe.

The greatest joy of the day would be seeing this pelmet book shelf being up. It's larger than what the hubby and I expected.. but it's good too so we can fit more stuff!!

It's like our renovation materialising! We wanted 4 shelves on the left but decided on 3 ultimately so we could fit our sofa bed...

I also had the curtains guy to come down to take some measurements and to give me a rough quotation. It'd set us back 1.4k to do up a day and night curtain in the hall and blinds for the two... still costly I would say... but we're still giving it some thought!

I'm so inspired by this walk-way that I wanna paint ours something like this to infuse some fun! Oh man!
It sure is fun doing the home renovations. I can't wait for it all to be completed!
